Dr. Asım Kayaalp (1962, Besni, Turkey) graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University in 1985 with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. He completed his mandatory state service in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinic of Gaziantep Social Security Institution Hospital. He underwent residency training from 1987 at the Ankara Dışkapı Social Security Institution Teaching Hospital’s Department of Orthopaedics Surgery and Traumatology to become a consultant orthopedic surgeon in 1991. Dr. Kayaalp continued to work at this surgery post in the same clinic until 1996 and he attended various international educational activities in Europe and the United States during this period. Following his 5-year stint at Dışkapı Teaching Hospital, Dr. Kayaalp founded the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinics in Gaziantep SANKO Hospital and Çankaya Hospital of Ankara. Until 2006, Dr. Kayaalp split his time between Gaziantep SANKO Hospital and Ankara Çankaya Hospital, performing more than 10,000 operations in Gaziantep alone. During this time, he also assumed the positions of Chief of Surgery, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board at Çankaya Hospital. Dr. Kayaalp is currently a Member of the Advisory Board at Çankaya Hospital and serves as the Chief of Orthopaedics Surgery with a team of 14 orthopedic surgeons.

Dr. Kayaalp has served two terms on the Executive Board of the Gençlerbirliği Sports Club in Ankara as the chief of Health Committee, which competes in the top-tier Turkish Super League. He is an active instructor of arthroscopic surgery and served in various founding and administrative positions of many professional associations including Turkish Society of Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery, Turkish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Healthcare Council and Association of Ankara Healthcare Organizations. Dr. Asım Kayaalp has lectured at numerous national and international conferences and he is the writer of several books, book chapters and journal articles. He also has a keen interest in Hip Arthroscopy and is the Founding Vice President of the Turkish Society of Preventive Hip Surgery.
